Ceremony in North Korea
This 1996 ceremony in North Korea honored the leadership of Kim Il Sung and his role in bringing to power the Korean Workers' Party after World War II. After solidifying Communist control in North Korea, Kim became premier of the newly created Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in 1948. He remained in power until his death in 1994.
