18th Century Shoes

18th Century Shoes
High heels were a late-16th century innovation in shoe styles. In the 18th century women’s high-heeled dress shoes, like those shown here, were made of delicate, fashionable fabrics such as brocaded silk, velvet, or soft goat leather. This collection of embroidered shoes is in the Bethnal Green Museum, London, England.
