Chapultepec Castle

Chapultepec Castle
Chapultepec Castle is best known as the site of the Battle of Chapultepec, which took place on September 12th and 13th, 1847, during the Mexican War. When the castle was captured by United States troops, several Mexican National Military Academy cadets leapt to their deaths rather than surrender their posts. The Mexican people continue to honor these Niños Héroes, or boy heroes, annually on September 13th. Today the castle houses Mexico’s national history museum.
