Rossetti’s The Day Dream

Rossetti’s The Day Dream
Painters of Britain’s Pre-Raphaelite movement sought to reinvest painting with the vigor and directness of approach associated with the early Renaissance; ironically, this sometimes led to a certain artificiality. The Day Dream, which Dante Gabriel Rossetti painted in 1880, has a luminosity reminiscent of stained glass and a poetic otherworldliness.
