The Circus by Georges Seurat
French painter Georges Seurat’s The Circus (1890, Musée d’Orsay) is an example of the technique known as pointillism. Seurat studied scientific theories of color while developing his style of painting. Rather than mixing the paint, he applied tiny dots of pure color to the canvas, creating a vibrancy in his compositions.
