Women Workers in Textile Factory
Women work in a French textile factory in the late 1950s. Women workers have played a vital role in the development of the textile industry since the early 1800s. Textile mills employed women for up to 14 hours per day. Public reaction against these long workdays eventually led to some of the earliest legislation that restricted hours of labor.
