Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children

Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children
Mother Courage and Her Children (1941), by German dramatist Bertolt Brecht, concerns a mother who loses her children while attempting to profit from war. Initially performed by the Berliner Ensemble, it was the first of Brecht’s epic theater pieces that encouraged spectators to grapple with the issues presented rather than empathize with the characters.
