Chain Mail Armor
Used primarily between the 11th century and the 14th century, chain mail armor was made out of thousands of interconnected metal rings. While chain mail was flexible and offered good protection against sword cuts, it could be penetrated by spear points and crossbow bolts. Chain mail armor was gradually replaced by the stronger and heavier plate armor.
