The Peace Corps

The Peace Corps
In 1961, as part of his “New Frontier” program, President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps, a government agency that trains volunteers to perform humanitarian and social services in foreign countries. Peace Corps activities include agricultural work, health care, and education. This photograph shows Peace Corps volunteers aiding Brazilian farmers.
