| Voters rally to support Ernesto Zedillo, 1994 presidential candidate of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, also known by its Spanish acronym PRI. Zedillo became the party’s presidential candidate in March 1994, following the assassination of candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio. Zedillo won election by a slim margin over National Action Party (PAN) candidate Diego Fernández de Cevallos and Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) candidate Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas. |
