American composer Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man (1943), written for brass and percussion, is one of his best-known works. It was written during an extremely productive period in which the composer focused on a series of ballets for leading American choreographers, including the works Billy the Kid (1938), Rodeo (1942), and Appalachian Spring (1944). All of these compositions were written in an accessible musical style and reached a wide audience.
