Lake Titicaca has a surface area of 8,300 sq km (3,200 sq mi), making it the second largest lake in South America. It is also the world’s highest navigable lake, sitting 3,810 m (12,500 ft) above sea level. Located in southeastern Peru and western Bolivia, Lake Titicaca has become a major transportation artery between the two countries.
