Shepherds, Kyrgyzstan

Shepherds, Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan lies at the conjunction of two Central Asian mountain systems, the Tian Shan and the Pamirs. Nomadic herding has long dominated the agricultural economy in this mountainous terrain. Although some nomads have settled to form farming communities in the fertile river valleys, many continue traditional herding practices, and livestock raising continues to be the country’s chief agricultural occupation.
