Sonoma Valley Vineyard
Winemaking in California began in the Sonoma Valley in 1857. Because of long growing seasons and extensive irrigation networks, California leads the United States in the production of grapes, which has spurred its wine industry. Both Sonoma and Napa counties feature hundreds of wineries that produce internationally recognized vintages.
