The Native American Church, also known as the Peyote Cult, is an interesting synthesis of Christian symbolism and beliefs and Native American rituals and practices. The peyote (small psychedelic cactus native to Texas and Mexico) is believed to be a sacred herb and is used by Native Americans to communicate with God and Jesus. Peyote rituals are practiced among a few tribes, primarily in the Southwest and in California, and are often associated with the Sioux and Navajo. This is an example of a Peyote Cult song performed by members of the Sioux tribe.
