The modern B-flat trumpet is used in orchestras, as well as jazz, dance, and marching bands. The trumpet was popularized by several American jazz musicians, notably Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis. Davis is renowned for changing the sound, color, and overall traditional approach to contemporary jazz in the late 1940s.
