The Pashai are farmers and stockbreeders living in the southeastern part of Afghanistan. Few musical instruments are found among the Pashai with the exception of the Turkish-derived zurna (oboe) and the dûl (double-headed drum), which are usually featured at wedding ceremonies. This example, performed at a wedding, is also the accompaniment for a traditional men’s dance.
