Babylonian Mathematical Tablet
The markings on this tablet are mathematical symbols that were used by the Babylonian civilization. The Babylonian system of counting was based on the number 60, much like the system used today is based on the number 10. The Babylonians used their system to compute the positive roots of quadratic equations, and in geometry they were able to find the areas and volumes of various geometrical shapes.
