Abraham Lincoln at Antietam

Abraham Lincoln at Antietam
After the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln visited Union commanders on the battlefield. The battle marked the bloodiest one-day battle of the American Civil War—casualties from both sides mounted to about 23,000. In the end, however, the Union army emerged victorious.
