Maurice Wilkins
British biophysicist Maurice Wilkins was a cowinner of the 1962 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine. By studying the patterns of X-ray diffraction bouncing off genetic material, Wilkins revealed the double spiral shape of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), the molecular building block of genes.
