At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, Dorothy Hamill won the women’s figure skating gold medal, capping a successful amateur career that also included three consecutive victories at the United States Figure Skating Championships (1974-1976). After the 1976 Olympics, Hamill became a professional ice skater, eventually directing and performing with Ice Capades, a well-known touring ice show.
