| Kaliningrad, on the Pregolya River, is an important Russian commercial center connected to Baltiysk, an ice-free port on the Baltic Sea. Formerly known as Königsberg, the city's strategic location has brought it many different rulers, including the Teutonic Knights, Prussians, and Soviets. Kaliningrad is now an exclave of Russia, surrounded by Lithuania and Poland. | ||||||
