Dnipropetrovs’k
Dnipropetrovs’k, in a mineral-rich region of Ukraine, was founded in 1787 and originally named Ekaterinoslav as a tribute to Catherine the Great. The city began its industrial expansion with the arrival of the railroad in the 1880s and experienced further growth following the completion of a hydroelectric project in 1932.
