| Norwegian and Danish king Christian II captured Stockholm and had himself crowned king of Sweden in 1520, then he massacred Swedish nobles. His harsh actions led to a successful rebellion in Sweden and his deposition in Denmark in 1523. He was eventually captured and imprisoned. | ||||||
