Syngman Rhee

Syngman Rhee
Syngman Rhee became the first president of the Republic of South Korea in 1948 and led the country through the Korean War after North Korea invaded in 1950. His rule grew increasingly totalitarian and, after riots broke out in 1960, he was forced into exile.
