François Delsarte

François Delsarte
Frustrated by damage to his own vocal chords from improper training, French singer François Delsarte left the stage in 1834 to devise new methods of teaching voice and movement. Although his work remained little known during his lifetime, it later significantly influenced 20th-century modern-dance pioneer Isadora Duncan.
