Jackson and the British Officer

Jackson and the British Officer
British soldiers captured Andrew Jackson, a messenger for the South Carolina militia, during the American Revolution. When 13-year-old Jackson refused to shine the boots of a British officer, his face was slashed with a sword. This defiance exemplified the courage of the man who in 1829 would become the seventh president of the United States.
