German Unification

German Unification
Otto von Bismarck, chief minister of Prussia, was the architect of German Unification. By maneuvering the German states into three wars, all of which they won, he was able to dramatically increase the size of the territory under his control. In 1871 all this territory was unified by Bismarck and William I as the German Empire.
