Alex Haley

Alex Haley
American author Alex Haley is best known for his genealogical chronicle Roots: The Saga of an American Family (1976), which received special citations from the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award committees in 1977. The book was made into a successful television miniseries in 1977. Earlier in his career, Haley collaborated with American political activist Malcolm X in writing The Autobiography of Malcolm X (1965).
