Bayeux Tapestry

Bayeux Tapestry
This section of the Bayeux Tapestry (1073–1083) shows the Normans advancing in battle. The entire piece, which is an embroidery rather than a true tapestry, measures 70 m by 49.5 cm (231 ft by 19.5 in) and depicts the Norman conquest of England and events leading up to it. Although the designer is unknown, the piece has a cohesiveness that suggests a single person’s vision.
