Patient Undergoing Acupuncture
Acupuncture, or the puncture of the skin by needles to relieve pain, is an ancient Chinese medical practice believed by many to be effective against a wide variety of medical ailments. The treatment developed 4000 years ago in response to the theory that disease interrupts energy flow in the body and insertion of needles at specific points will reestablish healthy energy flow. Acupuncture serves, primarily, as a surgical analgesic in current medical practice.
