Daniel Webster

Daniel Webster
American politician and lawyer Daniel Webster gained fame as one of the best-known orators of his time. Webster argued numerous cases before the Supreme Court, served in the Congress of the United States, and twice served as secretary of state (1841-1843 and 1850-1852). A vigorous advocate of a strong national government, Webster championed the continued unity of the United States in the pre-Civil War era.
