Aleksey Kosygin
Aleksey Kosygin was premier of the Soviet Union from 1964 until shortly before his death in 1980. Born in Saint Petersburg, he was appointed deputy premier in 1960. After the ouster of Soviet ruler Nikita Khrushchev in 1964, Kosygin rose to the rank of premier under the regime of Leonid Brezhnev.
