Catherine of Aragón was the first wife of Henry VIII. The daughter of Ferdinand V and Isabella I of Spain, Catherine married Henry and bore him only one living daughter, but not the male heir he so desperately wanted. Henry broke with the Roman Catholic church to divorce her.
