Washington Arch, New York City
American architect Stanford White interpreted earlier styles to create his structures. The Washington Arch in Washington Square Park, built in New York City at the end of the 19th century, shows Italian Renaissance influences. A respected architect, White is also known for the scandalous affair that ended in his murder in 1906.
