Carlo Levi
Italian writer Carlo Levi is most famous for his novel Cristo si รจ fermato a Eboli (1946; translated as Christ Stopped at Eboli, 1947) set in the period of Fascist tyranny in Italy before World War II (1939-1945). Levi was also a noted journalist and artist. He is shown here in 1956 in his study in Rome.
