Sacagawea Golden Dollar
The United States Mint issued the new golden dollar coin in early 2000. The obverse (front) side of the coin depicts Sacagawea and her infant son, Jean Baptiste. Sacagawea was the Native American woman who helped guide the Lewis and Clark expedition during much of its journey across the North American continent from 1804 to 1806.
