R. K. Narayan
Indian novelist R. K. Narayan set many of his book in a fictitious southern Indian town called Malgudi. These works include his novels Swami and Friends (1935) and The Bachelor of Arts (1937). In addition to a string of well-received novels, Narayan published modern versions of the Indian epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
