Gordon Brown

Gordon Brown
Gordon Brown succeeded Tony Blair as prime minister of the United Kingdom in 2007. Brown had previously served as chancellor of the exchequer since 1997. His reputation for sound economic management was regarded by many as a key component of the Labour Party victory in the 1997 general election. Once he was in office, his policies bore out this reputation.
