| Nordic glass designers and craftsworkers have gained a reputation for producing particularly fine, innovative pieces for both practical and decorative purposes. Summer Grouse, pictured here, is the work of Finnish artist Oiva Toikka. It is just one of a series of varied abstract bird designs in glass, which he has created for the firm Iittala. In this piece a strain of brown that starts at the bird’s head and ends at the tail subtly reproduces the effect of rich, varied plumage. | ||||||
