United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum opened in 1993 in Washington, D.C. At the end of its permanent exhibition is the Hall of Remembrance, a hexagonal space measuring 557 sq m (6,000 sq ft). In this space an eternal flame burns in memory of those killed in the Holocaust, and visitors may light memorial candles set in the niches of the outer walls.
