Guernica After Bombing
On April 26, 1937, German airplanes bombed the Spanish town of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War. They were under orders of the Nationalist side led by General Francisco Franco. This photograph of Guernica, taken in May 1937, illustrates the extent of the devastation.
