Renfrew (Ontario), town in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, 78 km (48 mi) west of Ottawa, on the Trans-Canada Highway and Provincial Highway 17. The Canadian National and Canadian Pacific railways provide transportation. Founded during lumbering days, Renfrew became a village in 1858 and was incorporated as a town in 1895. Population 8,134 (1991); 7,942 (2001).
