West Vancouver, district municipality on the north shore of Burrard Inlet, southwestern British Columbia, Canada. It is primarily a residential suburb of Vancouver; tourism is important to its economy. One of West Vancouver’s main attractions is its natural setting. It is close to both the mountains and water. Horseshoe Bay is a terminus for the provincial ferry system.

West Vancouver was settled in 1905 and incorporated in 1912. It grew rapidly during the latter part of the 20th century. However, West Vancouver’s future growth is limited by its topography and zoning regulations.
