Zhu Jiang or Pearl River, river in China, flowing southeast from Guangzhou to the South China Sea. The upper Zhu Jiang extends from the northern part of Guangzhou to the Xi Jiang (West River) delta, 32 km (20 mi) south of Guangzhou. The lower Zhu Jiang is an estuary, 32 km (20 mi) wide, between Macao and Hong Kong.
