Nausea, uneasy sensation in the upper abdomen, sometimes preceding the act of vomiting. Nausea is frequently associated with feelings of faintness, cold perspiration, weakness, and vertigo. It may be caused by a number of factors, including anxiety and exposure to certain chemical fumes. In addition, nausea can be a symptom of an underlying physical problem, such as appendicitis or ovarian cancer.
