Map of Kiska

Kiska, small island in the western part of the Aleutian chain of Alaska. The largest of the Rat Island group, Kiska is rocky, almost barren, and frequently fog-shrouded. During World War II (1939-1945) Japanese troops occupied both Kiska and the Aleutian island of Attu from June 1942 until August 1943, when they were forced to surrender the islands to United States forces.
