Windows Live® Search Results Kiska, small island in the western part of the Aleutian chain of Alaska. The largest of the Rat Island group, Kiska is rocky, almost barren, and frequently fog-shrouded. During World War II (1939-1945) Japanese troops occupied both Kiska and the Aleutian island of Attu from June 1942 until August 1943, when they were forced to surrender the islands to United States forces.
