Colpeo, species of fox, native to the central and southern regions of South America. The colpeo is distinguished by its long, thin skull; its large, erect ears; and the length of its very bushy tail. The color and length of the colpeo’s fur varies from individual to individual. Generally the sides of the colpeo’s body are brownish gray, while its back is mottled with black, and its legs are reddish. The under parts of its body are yellowish white. The colpeo’s tail is light reddish-gray with a black tip.

Scientific classification: The colpeo is a member of the family Canidae and is classified as Pseudalopex culpaeus.
