Chincherinchee, perennial herb of the lily family, native to South Africa and grown for its long-lasting cut flowers. The chincherinchee is a bulbous plant that grows to 30 cm (12 in) in height and has basal leaves. Its flowers are white with brownish green centers and bloom in a dense flower head, or raceme. The chincherinchee is usually considered tender, but it will survive cold winters if it is planted in a sheltered southern or southwestern location and is well mulched.
