Sir George Howland Beaumont (1753–1827), English artist and patron of art. He was the friend and supporter of many painters, in particular landscape painter John Constable. Beaumont donated many paintings to Britain in 1823; the collection of the National Gallery in London grew in part from this donation. More from Encarta
